Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), honorary chairman of Senate Conservatives Fund, writes an important op-ed in the Wall Street Journal tomorrow on how Republicans can grow their Party. Contrary to what many in the Party believe, the winning strategy is based on core its principles. DeMint writes …
To win back the trust of the American people, we must be a “big tent” party. But big tents need strong poles, and the strongest pole of our party — the organizing principle and the crucial alternative to the Democrats — must be freedom. The federal government is too big, takes too much of our money, and makes too many of our decisions. If Republicans can’t agree on that, elections are the least of our problems.
This is exactly why SCF works so hard to elect true conservatives. These leaders will be the “strong poles” in the Senate who will fight for our freedoms. Without these conservatives, the Republican Party will continue to stand for nothing and continue to live in the minority.
“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It cannot compromise its fundamental beliefs for political expediency.” – Ronald Reagan

Sen. DeMint,
I’m with you Sir. Being 33 I’ve noticed in a short period of time how identity politics and relativism has truly put a stranglehold on our country intellectually, financially and morally.
I want to be a part of this ‘big tent’, ‘grass roots’ idea, Sen. DeMint. Though admittedly I’m torn.
The ‘R’ Party inundated with RINO’s (though minus the blowhard Specter.. good riddance!), the McCain’s trying to sell me on his ‘Conservative’ record, etc.,
Senator, I’m ecstatic with Chris Simcox throwing his hat in the election ring against McCain.
I’m pleased with Oklahoma implementing the House Bill 1804, punishing both BUSINESS OWNER and ILLEGAL of wrongdoing.
Sen. DeMint, talk is cheap. I know because it’s what we, the American people are shoveled by Teleprompter-in-Chief constantly. As he’s quoted saying, ‘Just words’.
Again, I will go to great lengths for this amazing country of ours. I’ve worked on 6 continents and am well aware of how special it is.
If you are TRULY serious of the policy goals to the left of this message: show us. For I and many others Senator will go to bat for you.
Good day to you and your staff.

Senator, I hope you mean what you say,….so far I’ve been disappointed by Steeles’ performance,…it sure seems to me that the RNC is ignoring the concerns of conservatives.
When is the RNC going to “come to grips” with the fact that conservatives absolutely do not want amnesty or any other phony immigration plan!
Conservatives want the border fence built!
The RINOs of the RNC need to stop taking marching orders from the USCC and stop pandering to special interest Latino groups.
That is just a few of the problems that the RNC is refusing to address.
What I mean to say is, they must pay attention to the conservative base or they’re going to lose them permanetly,…..just take a look at how the elections have turned out since “06″,…conservatives are refusing to vote for “liberal lites”.

Northeast conservatives were greatly inspired by the inner strength and resolve of Sen. DeMint in confronting Specter and pushing him over the edge to the other side. Though a little strong, the image that comes to mind is that of the Iraqi children stomping on the statue of Saddam Hussein after it was dismantled. Thank you very much.

I agree with Senator Demint. I appreciate his candor and ask him to continue his truth talk!! I believe that freedom is a big enough tent. The founding fathers wanted that for us and for our own communities and states to have more rights in the people than the central government out of washington. We turned the corner when both parties went progressive, and that is what needs to be weeded out of both of them. I just hope the tipping is not too far out of whack and enough people will get on board the train of freedom of life, liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness) and we can stand up and tell big government and environmentalists, any other statist to take a flying leap!!

Well, I am one who says that the Republican Party left me a couple years ago. I’ve been considering the Constitution Party myself…as I want to see a focus on fighting for our constitution, our bill of rights and not being afraid to say this country was founded on Christian principles. On truth…and working for traditional, old fashioned values. As I see it, the Republican party has moved father and farther left….so it’s just inches away from being the same as the Democratic Party. Traditional conservative values are NOT Old fashioned as it seems many think…..they are values that made our country what it was…when it was great and COULD get it turned around that way again. The reality of life is that some basic truths ARE black or right…right or wrong and we shouldn’t be afraid to say so. If we’re afraid to say so because that means someone won’t want to be on the team, but we’re willing to ‘change the beliefs’ to keep others happy or to be politically correct….they we aren’t saying what is truth.
